As much as I hate my neighbourhood, I can't stand others disrepecting it, especially when they do know it.
I overheard a co-worker talking: "I used to live near Boundary and Hastings, about twenty years ago. I thought, move to Surrey, no way." A brief pause. "But now I think, East Vancouver is so bad. Sure there are some nice homes in Strathcona and around there, but there's too much crime and and it's so dirty."
Yeah, maybe. But its also generally a very friendly neighbourhood, not like suburbia. You get to know your next door neighbour here, even if you live in a house.
At least my neighbourhood doesn't have the highest incidents of grow-ops in the lower mainland. And at least my neighbourhood isn't Whalley. :)
